William Walkowiak is vice president - finance & investor relations for Novatel Wireless, Inc., a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions.

His background covers a broad spectrum of investor relations, including large-cap, small-cap, and agency experience. Previously, he served publicly-traded clients of Fleishman-Hillard, one of the world’s largest PR firms, as senior vice president in the investor relations practice group. Other agency experience included vice president at Lippert/Heilshorn & Associates, a leading independent investor relations firm in New York City.

Most of Bill’s IR experience comes from the corporate side. He served as vice president of investor relations and corporate communications for EDO Corporation until 2008. EDO Corporation produced a diverse range of products and engineering services for defense, intelligence, and commercial markets.  He joined EDO in 2003 as the company’s first IR professional, where he planned and implemented the company’s investor relations and corporate communications program. EDO was acquired by ITT Corporation in December 2007.

On the small-cap side, Bill created and managed the IR function at NexCen Brands in 2008 and PureTec Corporation from 1996 to 2000.

Prior to joining PureTec, Bill spent more than 20 years in the telecommunications industry in a variety of roles, including business/financial planning, investor relations, treasury, network planning, operations and information technology for Bell Atlantic and Bell of Pennsylvania (both now part of Verizon). He also served on the “EDGAR” database development team in 1987-88 at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he participated in the White House Executive Exchange Program.

Bill is a graduate of the Wharton Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania; he received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

Bill has been active in NIRI at both the local and national level. He was an officer of the New York Chapter from 2000 through 2009, including chapter president from 2006 -2007, and has been actively involved in the chapter’s award-winning programs. He was co-chair of the 2005 NIRI National Conference and also served on the 2004 National Conference committee.  He is now assisting with programming at the San Diego Chapter.

Bill is a chartered financial analyst and is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Securities Analysts.
