NIRI Announces 2008-2009 Annual Chapter/Leadership Award Winners

Hollywood, FL – The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) today announced its annual Chapter Awards and Chapter Leadership Awards winners, awarding Best Overall Small Chapter to Atlanta, and Best Overall Large Chapter to the Virtual Chapter.

NIRI Chair Bina Thompson, Vice President, Investor Relations, Colgate Palmolive Company said, “On behalf of the NIRI Board of Directors, I extend my sincere appreciation to our chapter and chapter leadership award winners, as well as the leaders of all of NIRI’s many nationwide chapters. These local chapters truly make a difference in enhancing the NIRI member experience. NIRI chapter membership enriches our members’ careers, and I’m delighted to honor the achievements of our volunteer chapter leaders.”

The awards were presented at the Chapter/Leadership Awards dinner in Hollywood, Florida, where the 2009 NIRI Annual Conference is being held from June 7-10, 2009. The NIRI Annual Conference is the largest annual gathering of investor relations professionals in the world.

The 2008-2009 NIRI Chapter Award winners are:

Best Overall Small Chapter: Atlanta

Best Overall Large Chapter: Virtual
Runner Up: Silicon Valley

Ohio; Lisa Lettieri, Connecticut/Westchester; Hala Elsherbini, Dallas*Ft. Worth; Scott Winters, Houston; Eula Jones, Kansas City; Julie MacMedan, Los Angeles; Nils Paellmann, New York; Cynthia Skoglund, Orange County; Jim Kerr, Philadelphia; Heather Rowe, Rocky Mountain; Karen Fisher, San Diego; Helene Jaillet, Seattle; Jennifer Beatty and John Hastings, St. Louis; Victoria Hyde Dunn, Silicon Valley; Fran Barsky, Triangle; Ann Storberg, Virtual.

Karen Fisher, board member and immediate past president of the San Diego Chapter, was also honored with the University of Michigan Scholarship Award. Ms. Fisher was selected to receive this award based on an essay competition, and will receive a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan’s “Theory and Practice of Investor Relations” executive education program.

In a new award category for 2009, Mary Beth Kissane of Walek & Associates received the inaugural NIRI National Volunteer of the Year Award. This award honors a NIRI member who best exemplifies the NIRI mission of “advancing the practice of investor relations and professional competency and stature NIRI members” at the national level.
