Emily K. Brock, Ph.D. is Senior Research & Networks Manager for the Sustainability Institute by ERM. The Sustainability Institute is ERM’s primary platform for thought leadership, providing research, ideas, and actionable insights to define and scale sustainability performance. She is a lead author on the Sustainability Institute’s May 2022 whitepaper analyzing the costs of climate-related disclosure for corporations and institutional investors. That research, cited in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and E&E News, informs public understanding of the potential costs of compliance with the SEC’s proposed rule on climate-related disclosure.

Based in Washington, DC, Emily also works with corporate clients to address needs regarding ESG ratings & frameworks, disclosure, regulation, and sustainability strategy. Her current and past clients include Fortune 500 corporations across industries, including oil & gas, chemical, technology, media, and insurance sectors.

Before joining ERM, Emily had over 10 years’ experience in the sustainable business space, including roles in sustainable finance, think tanks, academia, and industry. Emily has written widely on business and sustainability, including a book as well as numerous research papers, articles, and reviews, and has spoken at conferences in more than 15 countries.
