CFO and Lead Independent Director, Newport Corporation, Netlist

Photograph of Chuck Cargile Chuck Cargile is currently Executive Financial Advisor to MKS Instruments after having been Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Newport Corporation for 15 years.  In April, 2016 MKS acquired Newport for $980 million, representing a 53% premium for shareholders and 11X trailing EBITDA. As CFO at Newport, Mr. Cargile was responsible for finance, accounting, tax, treasury, business development, internal controls and information technology.  Mr. Cargile has been an executive officer of 3 public companies in his 25 years of professional experience.  In addition, he spent five years in public accounting as an auditor and reorganization specialist and became a certified public accountant in 1989.

Mr. Cargile earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University and his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.  He is the Lead Independent Director for Netlist, the Chairman of the Audit Committee for Hoag Charity Sports, and on the audit committee for the Hoag Hospital Foundation.  In addition, Mr. Cargile is on the Corporate Advisory Board for the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and on the advisory committee for 5 Arch Investments.
