Simon Alfano is a Member of the Finance Research Group at the University of Freiburg and a visiting researcher at the John Molson School for Business in MontrĂ©al, Canada. His research focuses on big data analytics in financial markets communication with a particular interest in asymmetric information processing by investors. His research is at the intersection of his interest in written communication and capital market communication, both fields in which he has prior work experience: he acted as a freelance journalist for a German newspaper and  worked in Roche's North American IR department. In addition, he is a proponent of making academic research accessible to practitioners. As such, he is a co-founder of the  IR data analytics company TonalityTech GmbH. 

Simon brings ten years of experience in business management, investor relations and and communications positions, including various roles in strategy and corporate finance at General Electric and management consulting at McKinsey & Company. He holds a master in Economics and Finance at the University of Freiburg, Germany, and has written his master thesis in behavioral economics at the Chair of Prof. Ernst Fehr at the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
