NIRI’s Board Chair-Elect and several chapter advocacy ambassadors will share an update on key regulatory issues facing the IR community and discuss NIRI’s efforts to bring members’ concerns to lawmakers and regulators. 2018 is an election year, and control of Congress could change next year, so it’s especially important that public companies voice public support now for regulatory reforms that will benefit issuers, investors, and IR professionals. The panel will discuss NIRI’s work with other business organizations to prod regulators to exercise greater oversight of proxy advisory firms, adopt a short-sale disclosure rule, update the shareholder proposal rules, and require greater transparency around hedge fund activism.
