Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products and services to more than 20 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries. In this role, Mr. McCarthy serves as the primary point of contact for outside research providers. He also interacts with members of management, the fund’s board of trustees,
portfolio managers, research analysts, legal and compliance to ensure that Fidelity optimizes its relationships with external research suppliers and that the firm is adherent to the regulatory requirements around these relationships.

In addition to his role with the external research community, Mr. McCarthy has operational oversight administering the global sector analysts, corporate access program, and equity and high yield training operations. He also co-heads the Direct Data Initiative within Fidelity’s equity and high yield research teams.

Prior to joining Fidelity in his current position in February 2008, Mr. McCarthy was a partner and head of the Boston office at Thomas Weisel Partners. Previously, he worked as principal and senior salesman at Alex Brown &
Sons/Deutsche Bank, and as a principal at Trammell Crow Company. He has been in the financial industry since 1987.

Mr. McCarthy earned his bachelor of arts degree in business administration and economics from Hope College and his master of business administration degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame.
