NIRI Reveals Conference Theme, Co-Chairs and Planning Committee

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) today announced that the 2017 Annual Conference, the largest gathering of IR professionals in the world, will take place June 4-7, 2017, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes, Orlando, Florida. This must-attend event for members of the investor relations community from all experience levels delivers valuable networking, education, and idea sharing opportunities.

The theme for the 2017 Conference is “Breaking the Mold: Defy Convention / Shatter Expectations / Shape the Future.” The Annual Conference Committee will be led by Conference Co-Chairs, Karen Fisher, Senior Vice President, FSW Communications, and Dennis Walsh, Senior Manager, Investor Relations at Zillow Group, Inc. NIRI is also introducing a new Honorary Annual Conference Chair position who, for the 2017 Annual Conference, is NIRI Fellow Mickey Foster, Vice President, Investor Relations, FedEx Corporation.

In planning the 2017 conference, NIRI is asking all members of the IR community to participate in a survey to indicate which topics they would like addressed at this annual event. Please visit the following link to complete the survey: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3020507/AC-2017-Call-for-Topics-and-Speakers.

“With the theme ‘Breaking the Mold,’ we’re taking a bold step,” said Annual Conference Co-Chair Dennis Walsh. “New regulations, advancements in technology, more engaged investors and even the diverse professional backgrounds of IR practitioners are just a few of the catalysts changing the IR profession. Today’s IRO is faced with many new challenges that are not addressed in the old IR playbook. One of the goals for the 2017 Conference is to inform attendees about the latest disruptive trends and how to solve them through informative sessions and networking opportunities. The theme also is applicable to the Conference format. As part of the “Reimagine NIRI” strategy, we’re breaking the mold of the historic NIRI Conferences. The Conference Committee is already hard at work and we know attendees will be delighted with the outcome.”

Annual Conference Co-Chair Karen Fisher added, “The NIRI Annual Conference attracts IR professionals from around the world. At the Conference, IROs can efficiently gain a wealth of actionable takeaways that can immediately improve their IR programs, develop a network of  experienced IR colleagues, and get a hands-on understanding of the many products and services that can make them more effective in their jobs. With this goal in mind, we are asking for feedback from all NIRI members to help guide and support the Conference by completing a brief Conference survey. Member input is critical to developing a conference that serves all members and at all levels of experience.”
