PHOENIX – The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) today announced its annual Chapter Leadership Awards and National Volunteer of the Year winners. The awards were presented at the NIRI Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on June 1 in Phoenix, site of the 2019 NIRI Annual Conference (www.niri.org/conference), the world’s largest investor relations education and networking event.

National Volunteers of the Year
Tabitha Zane, Vice President, Investor Relations, TopBuild, and Tim Quast, President,
ModernIR, received the NIRI National Volunteer of the Year Awards. This award honors NIRI members who provided exceptional leadership contributions to advance NIRI and the practice of investor relations.
 
Zane, over her many years of membership, has contributed her time and talent to NIRI as a volunteer leader at both the chapter and national levels. She was co-chair of the 2000 Annual Conference and has served on NIRI’s Board of Directors, the NIRI Senior Roundtable Steering Committee, and the NIRI Ethics Council. She also was a founding member of the San Antonio chapter and an officer of the Triangle chapter. She also helped NIRI launch the IRC certification program as a member of the original Subject Matter Expert Committee. She has continued to provide volunteer leadership for this program, serving on several IRC governance committees and is currently chair of the Certification Scheme Committee.
 
Quast, a NIRI member since 1995, serves as vice-chair of the 2019 Annual Conference.  He is a frequent and sought-after speaker at chapter events for years. He has spoken at many NIRI annual conferences and seminars and has been an enthusiastic advocate for NIRI and IR.    
 
Chair Awards for Excellence
NIRI also announced Chair Awards for Excellence to recognize chapters for achievement in areas most essential to chapter health and member service. 
 
The Chair Award for Excellence in Membership Retention was awarded to NIRI New York. This chapter had the highest retention rate of all NIRI chapters, with more than 95 percent of their members renewing over the past year. 
 
NIRI Northern California received a Chair Award for Excellence in Membership Growth. This chapter grew by an incredible 20 percent for the year.  
 
NIRI Central Ohio was honored with the “Phoenix Award” as the most improved chapter.  This chapter started the program year with re-energized leadership and enthusiasm, a new website, and a slate of topical programs that has resulted in increased participation in chapter meetings. 
 
NIRI Boston received the Chair Award for Excellence in the Advancement of the Investor Relations Charter. This chapter has embraced the IRC program by creating an  IRC webpage and awarding six IRC scholarships.

NIRI DFW received a Chair Award for Excellence in Advocacy Support. This chapter actively supports NIRI’s annual Leadership Week event in Washington, participates in NIRI’s Advocacy Ambassador program, and has written comment letters to Congress and the SEC.   
 
Celebrating NIRI's Past and Future
The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner included celebrations of NIRI's 50th anniversary and its future. DeWitt (Dick) Morrill, one of NIRI's two living founders, received a standing ovation from attendees after he shared his recollections of the creation of NIRI in 1969.  The dinner also showcased 
the next generation of NIRI's leaders as the inaugural "40 Under 40" class was honored.
