ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 3, 2022 - NIRI: The Association for Investor Relations today announced that Matthew D. Brusch, CAE, has been appointed President and CEO of NIRI, effective June 3, 2022, following Brusch’s appointment to Interim President and CEO in March 2022.

Since joining the NIRI executive staff in 2007, Brusch has served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Programs Officer and Vice President, Communications, and most recently as Interim President and CEO. Throughout his tenure, he has enhanced the NIRI Annual Conference, the world’s largest investor relations professional conference, reimagined the educational programming offered to members, navigated the shift to a virtual learning environment, launched NIRI’s Investor Relations Charter™ (IRC) certification program, and further strengthened the organization. Brusch and his team have also introduced innovative new programs including the Big I – Investor & Issuer Invitational Forum™, NIRI’s Think Tanks, the IR Competency Suite™, and NIRI’s online and on-demand self-paced learning series. He also led the overhaul of NIRI’s award-winning IR Update magazine, and has authored articles in the magazine, columns in NIRI’s IR Update Weekly, NIRI research reports, and NIRI Think Tank reports.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to announce Matt’s appointment as NIRI’s new President and CEO. His deep knowledge of the practice of Investor Relations, passion for legislative and regulatory matters impacting shareholder engagement and communication, and expertise in association management uniquely positions Matt to lead NIRI in this next chapter. On a personal note, I have long since admired Matt’s leadership with the Staff, our membership and external stakeholders and his commitment to advancing and elevating the profession. I look forward to working with him closely in the future,” said Victoria Sivrais, NIRI Board Chair and Founder of Clermont Partners.

Brusch has been involved in investor relations and capital markets for nearly 30 years. Prior to joining the NIRI staff executive team, he was a NIRI member leading the investor relations programs for three public companies. In conjunction with IR, he also led an FP&A team and corporate communications. Before this, Brusch served in market surveillance, listings qualifications and relationship management roles with the Nasdaq Stock Market. He began his career as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for superior performance.

“I am extremely honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead this organization that has meant so much to me, investor relations professionals everywhere, and the broader business community,” said Brusch. “This is an exciting time for NIRI. Our professional development programing is strong, for example, and we’re returning to our first in-person Annual Conference since 2019. NIRI is also very active at the regulatory table in DC shaping key rule proposals on behalf of the profession and public companies. And our Board of Directors is finalizing NIRI’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. I look forward to working with NIRI’s outstanding professional staff, Board, many devoted volunteers and diverse members throughout the organization to build on NIRI’s strengths, expand its impact, and advance and elevate the IR profession.”
