Fundamentals of Investor Relations

This comprehensive live seminar, held at the Westin Times Square, offers a broad, introductory overview of all aspects of investor relations, including marketing, communication, and finance. Come to New York to learn from seasoned pros, network with your peers, compare IR products and services at tabletop exhibits, and jumpstart your IR career. No prerequisites or advanced preparation required.

The Fundamentals of Investor Relations course is designed around the 10 domains of the IR Competency Framework, corresponding to the main job functions of IR. The seminar's first day will provide the context for IR: company funding and capital markets, financial reporting, and regulatory and disclosure concepts. The second day will take you through a year in the life of an IR practitioner - including the quarterly earnings cycle and developing an IR plan - and provide practical tools for success in the role.

Kelly Hernandez, IRC, serves as Senior Vice President and Head of Investor Relations with Leidos. She is an IRC Charterholder, and was recently named to Institutional Investor’s 2018 All-America Executive Team for Best IR Professional.  Kelly brings nearly two decades of technology and investment experience to her role.

Prior to her current role, Kelly served as the Head of the Middle East and North Africa for Deutsche Bank’s Institutional Asset Management business.  Prior to her role in the Middle East, Kelly was the lead portfolio manager for Deutsche Bank’s ~$1 billion DWS Technology mutual fund as well as Global Head of Technology Equity Research for Deutsche Asset Management.  Prior to her 7 years at Deutsche Bank, Kelly held varied roles at Credit Suisse and Advanced Micro Devices, as well as other technology companies in Silicon Valley. Kelly serves on the board of MPower Finance. Kelly received a master’s degree in business administration from University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in computer & electrical engineering from Purdue University.

Joe Hassett is Senior Vice President of Gregory FCA where he runs the firm's investor relations practice.  GFCA IR provides a wide range of IR services to companies large and small in a number of industries around the United States.
 
Joe joined GFCA when it merged with his IR consulting practice.  Prior to starting his own firm, Joe held senior level IR positions at The Thomas Group, an international professional services firm; and at ADVANTA Corporation, a $20 billion financial services company. His previous experience includes time as a financial analyst as well as the Mid-Atlantic Territory Manager for a major insurance company.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a master of business administration with concentrations in Finance and Market Research from Drexel University. He just completed a two-year term as President of NIRI Philadelphia, where he was previously Treasurer.  Joe has also taught college-level economics and finance.

Carol Murray-Negron is President of Equanimity, Inc. Ms. Murray-Negron coaches senior executives and leaders to optimize their performance, leadership presence, and strategic communications, and is an adjunct professor of investor relations at New York University's School of Professional Studies. Ms. Murray-Negron’s corporate experience includes senior positions with Avon Products, Inc., in both U.S. and International. During her tenure as Vice-President, Investor Relations, Avon's IR program received industry recognition as "Most Improved IR" among mid-cap companies. Other senior positions at Avon included Marketing Vice-President of Asia-Pacific, where she implemented a coordinated regional marketing strategy and also held line (P&L) responsibility for two Asian markets, and Regional Vice-President of U.S. Sales, where she provided motivational leadership to Avon's largest sales group. Ms. Murray-Negron received IR Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award, and is a Fellow of NIRI. She holds an M.F.A. in Drama from Yale University and a B.A. in English from Chatham University, where she received the 2016 Alumni Leadership Award.

Arthur H. Kohn is a partner at Cleary Gottlieb, where he focuses on compensation and benefits matters, including executive compensation, pension compliance and investment, employment law and related matters. Arthur advises numerous public companies and their boards of directors concerning compensation and governance matters, including American Express, Honeywell, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Tempur Sealy and Tronox, among others.
 
Arthur regularly speaks and writes on compensation and governance matters, including numerous presentations at The Conference Board’s Governance Watch series and at Skytop Strategies, American Law Institute, American Bar Association, Practicing Law Institute, NY City Bar Association and Equilar conferences. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at the New York University School of Law teaching a course on the Taxation of Executive Compensation, and is a board member of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware, home of the Investor Stewardship Group (ISG)’s Investor Stewardship and Governance Principles.   
 
Arthur was named to the Legal 500 US “Hall of Fame” in 2018 and 2019, is perennially ranked Band 1 by Chambers USA, and was named New York Employee benefits (ERISA) “Lawyer of the Year” in 2014 by Best Lawyers in America. Arthur received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. from Columbia University in 1986.

Pamela L. Marcogliese is a partner at Cleary Gottlieb, where she concentrates her work in the Capital Markets, Corporate Governance, Cybersecurity and Privacy, and FinTech practice groups.
 
Pamela’s practice focuses on corporate transactions, particularly capital markets, and a range of corporate governance matters. She has worked on multiple, high-profile initial public offerings, including for: Pinterest, Sabre, Allison Transmission and Nationstar Mortgage Holdings. She frequently works on all types of equity and debt transactions for clients across the technology, financial, retail, insurance and healthcare industries, among others.
 
Additionally, Pamela has deep experience in corporate governance matters advising U.S. and non-U.S. issuers on disclosure and corporate governance matters. Highlights include Google’s extremely complicated corporate reorganization that involved the insertion of a new publicly traded holding company, Alphabet Inc., as the parent of Google and several of Google's other divisions.
 
She regularly advises boards of directors and management on a variety of topics, including disclosure and compliance matters; stock exchange listing requirements; board composition and director independence; shareholder engagement and activism; shareholder proposals and proxy season trends; management and director succession planning; and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
