1:00-2:00pm COVID-19:  Lessons Learned, New Practices and Tools
The ways the IR profession interacts with the buy side and sell side community faces a new reality following the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, during the pandemic, virtual meetings have become the norm rather than physically travelling for non-deal roadshows or sell side conferences. Will this remain common practice once the pandemic has abated? What are best practices and tools being used in this new environment? Learn how sell side corporate access, the buy side and investor relations professionals are adapting to the worldwide pandemic.

2:00-3:15pm Timely Topics: Small Group Discussions
Join your Senior Roundtable peers in small group discussions on what they are doing to address the shifts occurring in IR and capital markets. NIRI’s SRT brings together a wealth of experience and knowledge from many disciplines, and there is no better opportunity to gain insight and actionable ideas than from your SRT peers. This interactive and fun session will offer participants the chance to share their experiences, their predictions/trends for the future, and take away new approaches to the key issues facing IROs today.

3:45-5:00pm The Investors’ Perspective on ESG
ESG has been a sustaining topic for IROs as the paradigm of the capital markets have shifted from mostly active investors to a mix of active and passive investors. Passive investors have driven the ESG conversation as they look to mitigate their risk profile with investments that they must make by the inherent structure of their funds. Active investors have begun to pick up on the conversation as the data tends to support lower risk associated with companies that have higher ESG ratings. Learn what investors, active and passive, are really looking for when it comes to ESG; how much ESG performance metrics weigh on an investment decision; what sort of information mosaic investors are gathering from myriad data suppliers, raters, rankers or third party influencers and directly from listed companies.

8:30-9:30 am Capital Markets Structure Reform
The last several months have been particularly active for the SEC from an equity market structure reform perspective. The Commission has recently issued several proposals that are part of an ongoing effort to modernize the U.S. national market system to better meet the needs of investors and other market participants. As their companies’ capital markets experts, IROs must understand these proposals that may fundamentally alter U.S. equity markets. Get up to speed in this fireside chat with Brett Redfearn, who leads the SEC division central to these efforts.

9:30-10:30am Communicating Effectively with Passive Investors
Learn how to effectively engage with passive investors. A panel of industry experts will provide a look at how this area is evolving including what has changed in past two to three years, and what is likely to change in next three to five years. Key takeaways will include understanding what this audience wants from public companies in terms of proactive outreach, and general best practices in communicating with this audience.

11:00-11:30am How Can IROs Impact Corporate Culture?
Virtually every company in America is trying to forecast the future and adjust strategies to meet future demands. At the same time, corporations must address current consumer needs and navigate the immediate challenges of a public health crisis, a sagging economy with surging unemployment, rising activism regarding racial equality and diversity, an explosion of unfettered social media, calls for corporate transparency, and a polarizing national election. We’ll explore the role IROs can play in influencing cultural direction through an interactive conversation with Robin Stennet about corporate culture in a time of upheaval. In her role as VP of Innovation and Marketing, Robin is responsible for long-term strategy, product planning and research at TopBuild Corporation, where she’s charged with driving change through the organization. Robin also heads the Marketing and field-based Home Services departments.

11:30am-12:00pm Preparing for Retirement (short session)
Retirement today often means ‘reinventing’ oneself instead of checking out and ‘taking it easy.’ This inspirational session will focus on this concept, and open up attendees’ thinking about the positive aspects of retirement and the myriad of possibilities, to motivate those transitioning into retirement to tap into their passions, and to stimulate those beginning to think about long-term planning for life after IR.
12:00-1:00pm Closing Lunch
5:30-6:30 pm Join the NIRI2020 Opening Reception in the IR Showcase

Please note that the SRT Annual Meeting and the NIRI Annual Conference are two separate events. If you wish to attend the full NIRI Annual Conference as well, you will need to separately register for that event.
