Companies are staying private longer than ever.  The availability of capital in the private sector from Private Equity and Institutional Investors means companies are under less pressure to access public markets and are delaying IPOs until they are more mature.  But this doesn’t mean that these companies should wait to build a proper investor relations practice.  Despite not having the regulatory requirements that come with being public, private investors can be just as demanding.  And as traditional public market investors build cross over funds, their expectations of private companies look much more like those that are public.

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss the significance of the IRO role and the skill set required at public and private companies
  • Understand why it’s now important for more private companies to be thinking like a public company
  • Learn what investors expect from IR at a private company
